Last year we initiated a new LCM alumni website, designed to publicize job opportunities, mazel tov's, alumni events, and other important information relevant to LCM alumni. Hopefully, this website can become a tremendous networking opportunity, but ultimately it is dependent on our alumni. We hope that all alumni will contribute to making this website a true success - keep your ears perked and email us about job openings in your company, an engagement or new baby celebrated by an alumnus, or anything else you would like to share with your fellow alumni. Please check us out at
LCMalumni.blogspot.com.
IF YOU KNOW ANY LCM ALUMNI PERSONAL NEWS, JOB OPENINGS, OR WOULD JUST LIKE TO GET THE WORD OUT ABOUT SOMETHING, PLEASE EMAIL THE SITE ADMINISTRATOR, EZZIE GOLDISH, AND HE WILL BE HAPPY TO POST THE INFORMATION ON YOUR BEHALF.

Pre-Yom Kippur Event Huge Success

On Thursday night the LCM Alumni Association hosted its first event of the year. Almost sixty alumni gathered at the home of Dani and Tamar Allen for inspirational words of chizuk from the Mashgiach and Rabbi Soloveitchik, as well as, a gourmet, all-you-can-eat smorgasbord from Carlos and Gabby's. All of New York City five boroughs were properly represented, with alumni attending from Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, Manhattan, and the Bronx. In addition to the shiurim and scrumptious dinner, many alumni enjoyed the opportunity to socialize and network with old, but not-forgotten, friends of the past. A wonderful time was had by all, and as one alumnus noted, "it was amazing to see alumni from every single graduating class in attendance together." Thank you to Dani and Tamar Allen, Eytan and Tamar Rosenbaum, as well as, G & I Bakery, for graciously sponsoring our first event of the year.

Yamim Noraim Davening at LCM

Over fifty alumni and their families returned to LCM for yamim noraim tefillos. Led by veteran baalei tefilla, LCM alumni, Yehuda Salamon and Gabi Shull, our davening has become a popular and beloved experience among many Kew Garden Hills residents. Over two-hundred and fifty people attended Rosh Hashana davening, and almost FOUR HUNDRED people will be packed into our Beis Medrash on Yom Kippur. Each and every table and aisle is already filled to the brim, and seating is now officially closed. We look forward to seeing you on Yom Kippur and may all of our tefillos be answered l'tova. If you have any last minute seating issues, please email Avi Krym.

LCM Alumni Basketball Team is Now Filled

The inaugural LCM Alumni Basketball team is beginning its first season in the LCM intramurals. Although perhaps, a bit older and not as in shape as their younger counterparts, the alumni team fully expects to bring home the championship showing the current students that they still have what it takes. The team is led by alumni co-captains, Zvi Schonbach and Eytan Rosenbaum. Hatzlacha!

Mashgiach's Alumni Shiur to Resume After Succos

All alumni are warmly invited to the Mashgiach's Wednesday night parsha shiur. The shiur is designed specifically for alumni and provides former students with the opportunity to connect with the Mashgiach and old friends, while enjoying insightful and thought-provoking ideas related to the weekly parsha. Come and enjoy! The shiur takes place at LCM and will resume the Wednesday after succos.

From all of us on the Lander Alumni Council, have a wonderful Chag Sameach! Anyone who is in the neighborhood is more than welcome to come by Lander to learn leil Shavuos.

Tonight's event l'iluy nishmas Aliza Shull a'h was a beautiful and inspiring success, starting with a drasha from the Mashgiach R' Moshe Bamberger, followed by strong words of chizuk from Gabi Shull regarding Aliza and her desire to stop all forms of machlokes, in addition to his campaign to have a sefer Torah written in her memory. The evening was capped by the always great R' Paysach Krohn, who touched on Gabi's point with his array of shmuessim and stories while emphasizing the need for showing kavod to one another, especially as we head into Shavuos.

We hope to have the video from TorahAnytime.com within a few weeks and thank them for recording the event.
