Rabbinical/Medical Conference: Navigating the Realities of the Healthcare System: Religiously, Economically, Emotionally, Spiritually, and Medically

Via Josh - the National Council of Young Israel is having an annual conference that would be interesting for all [future] Rabbis, Doctors, and people in the medical fields, if not everyone else...

Monday, February 16th:

Rabbinic/Medical Conference: Navigating the Realities of
the Healthcare System: Religiously, Economically, Emotionally,
Spiritually, and Medically
National Council of Young Israel/Young Israel Council of Rabbis Annual Rabbinic Conference will take place on Monday, February 16th, 2009 at Utopia Jewish Center, 64-41 Utopia Parkway in Fresh Meadows, Queens.

This year's theme is "Navigating the Realities of the Healthcare System: Religiously, Economically, Emotionally, Spiritually, and Medically". The conference is in partnership with Metropolitan Jewish Health System, in conjunction with UJA Federation of New York and Maimonides Medical Center. The Rabbinic Conference will break new ground in enabling rabbanim, rebbetzins, physicians, chaplains, social workers and caregivers to look more clearly at the difficult realities posed by the healthcare system. Through dynamic lectures, shiurim, and panel discussions with leading experts in halacha, medicine, bioethics, and chaplaincy, participants will learn to navigate the challenges and considerations faced by families
confronting serious illness. Topics to be discussed include end-of-life issues, futile care in halacha, and managing the financial burdens of medical care, among others.
